2009 FAITH AND FREEDOM RALLY IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA
By Synthia Esther
August 31, 2009
Attendance was evident at the Faith and Freedom Rally in Atlanta, Georga, Gwinnett County, Saturday, August 22, 2009, before you ever stepped foot into the doorway of the Atlanta-Gwinnett Marriott ballroom. Many of the cars, trucks, and vanns were decked out with banners, red, white and blue flags, and home made signs protesting in visual, quiet silence, President Obama's Health Care plans. The parking lot and deck was so full I had to park across the street and walk to the event. Once in the ballroom, it was standing room only, with the air tempature high. It was a hot day, with well over 1200 people or more in attendance, and the air conditioning wasn't working properly. But there were no complaints being heard, as attendees listened earnestly to the afternoon speeches.
Sean Hannity Hits A Note Of Accord With Conservatives....
At times during speeches by Ralph Reed (Founder and President of the Faith and Freedom Coalition), Fox News Sean Hannity, and Lt. Col. Oliver North, Jon Voight, Karen Handel, concerning President Barack Obama's Health Care plans, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the Government stimulus package, boos were heard from the audience. Hannity brought out the best in unity of purpose with loud applause and raves from the audience when stating, "I want capitalism to work in America, and I don't believe in generational theft." Hannity confirmed, "It's the American people who are going to bail out this country..." and "I have some words for Barack Obama, 'No you can't!'" Ralph Reed spoke of the grassroots Faith and Freedom Coalition he began in an effort to help unite conservatives in voice, deed, and action. Reed asked everyone in agreement to call 25 friends and begin local Faith and Freedom chapters. By the support and approval of his lobbying efforts, I say Mr. Reed will continue to see Americans standing up in unity to his cause, wanting their voice to be heard.
Ignorance is bliss is no longer on the lips of right wing conservatives, as they are stating loud and clear they are not happy with President Obama's change in Washington. Increased government spending is at an all time high. Unemployment rates continue to sky rocket, while President Obama's approval ratings continue to drop. It is evident by public outcry of concerned American people, that senior and disabled citizens are not the only ones fearful of a Government run health care system that includes life and death decisions in contract form, listed in its proposals.
Synthia Esther Interviews Concerned Single American, Beverly Stewart
While most in attendance at the 2009 Atlanta Faith and Freedom Rally were married couples and their families, I did have the opportunity to talk to several single Americans. One of which was Beverly Stewart, from Grayson, Kentucky. Ms. Stewart made the 7 hour trip with friends in support, deed, and action in regards to both The Faith and Freedom Rally, and Sean Hannity's sold out Freedom Concert held that night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Freedom Concerts help raise money for children who have lost parents in military service for our country.
Ms. Stewart states concerning President Obama's Health Care Plan, "Working in the health care field I handle both medicare and medicade long term care patients. Some of my concerns are regulations, lack of funding, work load increase, which hinders providing adequate care." Beverly Stewart confirmed what many Doctors are claiming all across America. There simply aren't enough trained Doctors and Health Care Professionals yet available to handle free Government health care plans. It would take years of training before additional Doctors and health care professionals were trained and made ready and available. I think we would also be wise to remember, "Any Government that can supply all you want, can take away all you have."
